2019 Summer & Fall Shooting Clinics

Coach Jack Ghizoni and Coach Dustin Moran
6th - 12th Grade Boys and Girls
$195/session
We are excited to help players understand how to be excellent shooters by working on their shot technique, beginning before they even receive the ball. Our drills are from the standstill position, off the dribble, and off the pass. The shooter will get their shot off as quickly as possible without sacrificing form or success through drills promoting:
- Proper footwork
- Proper balance to explode straight up into the shot vertically
- Arm, hand, and finger position/motion
- Body positioning and balance after catching a pass
- Reading the defense to create an open space for your shot
Players will progress their skills and build their confidence through instruction and live shooting drills during these sessions. Players will first master the technique at a suitable pace and then practice at a more advanced, game speed. Coaches promote mastering each previous action before progressing through the sequence, assuring player confidence as they build shooting proficiency. Please note these aren't three of the same clinic, but rather a progression. The skills being taught will become more advanced as we go further into the clinics (i.e. the most advanced skills will be taught in the Fall 2 session). Players will also compete in a series of fun, competitive contests all related to shooting the basketball.

Coaches promote mastering each previous action before progressing through the sequence, assuring player confidence as they build shooting proficiency. We help players understand how to be shooters before they even receive the ball. We build a mindset of offensive and shooting confidence, flowing from their knowledge of movement within the offense before and after they get the ball in their hands.
We help the shooter understand the following to help them get their shot off as quickly as possible without sacrificing form (off the pass):
- Proper footwork for proper balance to explode straight up into the shot vertically
- Arm position when catching the ball: how to "go to the pass"
- Hand and finger position when catching the ball
- Arm, hand, and finger motion after catching the ball
- Body motion after catching the ball for quickest, most balanced release
Players will progress through their skill and confidence-building through instruction and live shooting drills during this clinic.
